Samuel Schär studied Physics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), where he obtained his diploma. In 2025, he continued his education at Harvard Business School.
Prior to joining Bühler in 2002, Samuel Schär worked for three years at McKinsey & Company. In 2005, he took charge of Bühler’s Nanotechnology business unit. From 2009 to 2012, he was responsible for its Grinding & Dispersing business area.
From 2013 to 2022, he headed the Advanced Materials business and, in September 2014, was appointed CEO of Advanced Materials. In addition to this responsibility, he took on the role of Chief Services & Sales Officer for the Bühler Group in June 2020. Starting in 2023, he focused fully on his role as Chief Services & Sales Officer.
